SMI Announces Changes in Board of DirectorsScituate, MA (January 8, 2010): As SMI celebrates the close of its fifth year, the non-profit corporation announces changes to its Board of Directors. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of SMI, Carl Manley, Vice President of Materials Management, Sentara Healthcare, informed SMI members at their fall 2009 Forum that John Gaida, Senior Vice President, Supply Chain Management, Texas Health Resources, has been elected to serve as Chair-Elect of the SMI Board of Directors in 2010, and will then assume the role of Chairman with the onset of 2011. Keith Kuchta, Vice President, Global Accounts & Strategic Partnerships, Kimberly-Clark Health Care, will take over for Mr. Gaida as Secretary of the Board, and Jim Francis, Division Chair/Assistant Treasurer, Mayo Clinic Supply Chain Management, was nominated into an At-Large position on the Executive Committee. Four new members rotate onto the SMI Board including Nancy LeMaster, Vice President, Supply Chain Operations, BJC HealthCare; Vance Moore, President, ROi, an operating division of Sisters of Mercy Health System; Bruce Johnson, President & CEO, GHX; and Susan Schuette, Vice President of National Accounts, Hill-Rom. Mr. Manley thanked outgoing Board members for their service and leadership Jane Pleasants, Assistant Vice President, Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Duke University Health System; Pam Scagliarini, System Director of Supply Chain Management, Yale New Haven Health System; Bill Donato, previously with Ethicon and now Executive Director, Supply Chain Management, Cleveland Clinic; and Jim Natale, recently retired from C.R. Bard.
