SMI's collaborative relationship with the Association of Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) began shortly after SMI was formed, as the two organizations share the common goal of working for the benefit and advancement of the industry. AHRMM leadership has participated in SMI's Forums and Initiatives, while SMI has participated in AHRMM planning efforts and educational programs. As collaborators, SMI and AHRMM help to promote forward progress in the healthcare supply chain through their respective publications, educational venues, promotion of adoption of SMI tools and solutions, and advocacy of industry standards. As collaborators, SMI and AHRMM have linked their web sites to maximize industry exposure and access to their collections of resources and tools. SMI looks forward to a long term, mutually rewarding relationship with AHRMM.
The Center for Innovation in Healthcare Logistics (CIHL) is a partnership between the University of Arkansas, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., the VHA hospital alliance, and other industrial partners focusing on improving healthcare supply chain and logistics systems with the use of information technology. CIHL is dedicated to conducting research aimed at identifying and addressing gaps and roadblocks in the application and delivery of health information technology, and highlighting and replicating proven applications that are working to benefit patients and providers. The goal of the Center’s work is to put the right materials in the hands of doctors and nurses where and when they need them; it also aims to eliminate the threat of medical errors arising from wasteful and unreliable practices in healthcare supply networks. As collaborators in support of the advancement of the healthcare supply chain industry, SMI and CIHL will cooperate on educational efforts by sharing knowledge, providing comment, and when appropriate, incorporating respective tools and solutions into educational efforts.
SMI's has worked closely with Healthcare Purchasing News since inception. The two organizations share the common goal of promoting and recognizing advances in the marketplace and working for the benefit and advancement of the industry. HPN professionals have attended SMI Forums and Initiative Team meetings, while SMI has contributed articles and updates to the HPN publications. As collaborators, SMI and HPN help to promote forward progress in the healthcare supply chain through publications and advocacy of industry initiatives. As collaborators, SMI and HPN work to maximize industry exposure and access to cutting edge information and tools. SMI is pleased to collaborate with HPN and looks forward to a successful future.
